School Board

Hamilton Heights School Board


The Hamilton Heights School Board is made up of 5 members, 2 each from White River Township and Jackson Township as well as one at-large representative. The members are elected to staggered 4 year terms. Except for special meetings, the board meets the 3rd Thursday of each month in the conference room at the Hamilton Heights Administration Office unless otherwise stated.


Laura Griswold Reuter
Board President

Laura Griswold Reuter is beginning her first term as a Hamilton Heights School Board Member representing White River Township. She is Vice President of Finance for Urbahns Company, Inc. Laura is also a member of the Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and treasurer of the Hamilton Heights Swim Club.

Laura and her husband Mark have three daughters, each one attending a different Hamilton Heights School this fall. Maggie attends the high school, Miranda attends the middle school and Leigh Anne attends the elementary school. Her family continues to be involved with various community and school activities. She and her children are involved in 4-H, Sports, FFA and other academic opportunities. The Reuters are members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero where Laura teaches first grade and is a lector.

Laura is a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School and Purdue University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and a minor in Industrial Engineering. She is an avid Boilermaker fan as well as a fan of any Big Ten School.


Rex McKinney
Board Vice President

Rex McKinney has represented Jackson Township as a member of the Hamilton Heights School board since 2004. He is the Executive Director of Clinical Support Services for St. Vincent Hospital. He is also a member of the Indiana School Board Association (2004 – present), Kiwanis International (2005 – present), American College of Health Care Professionals (2002- present), American Association for Respiratory Care (1984 – present), and has served as vice president for the Hamilton Heights Youth Sports League from 2003 – 2006.

Rex is a proud graduate of Hamilton Heights, class of 1984. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. He and his wife Robin are lifelong residents of the Hamilton Heights community and have four children.


Arnett Cooper
Board Secretary

Arnett (Arnie) Cooper is beginning his first term as a Hamilton Heights School Board member representing White River and Jackson Townships. He is a retired toolmaker after working for Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, Indiana for 40½ years. Except for a 4 year stint in the U. S. Air Force, he has lived in the Hamilton Heights area all of his life.

Arnett and his wife of 45 years, Vicki, both graduated from Jackson Central High School in 1963 and both of their daughters graduated from Hamilton Heights High School. Tina is a graduate of Indiana University and the IU School of Law and works for the Indiana Appellate Courts. Kira is a graduate of Purdue University, with a Masters degree from Miami of Ohio and is an audiologist at Northside ENT. She is married and has a son, Jackson, and a daughter, Isabella, who light up the lives of Vicki and Arnett.

Besides his toolmaker apprenticeship, Arnett also has an associate degree from Highland Park Community College in Industrial Technology.

People in the community have and will see Arnett and Vicki at many school functions throughout the year, as well as Butler basketball.


Gwendalyn Hunter
Board Member

Gwendalyn Bjortomt Hunter joined the Hamilton Heights School Board in 2006 representing Jackson Township. She is the Medical Staff Services Coordinator at Indiana University Health North Hospital as well as being a member of Grace Community Church and the Indiana School Board Association. She married her best friend Blake and has three children, Nathan, Heather and Austin that either currently attend or have graduated from Hamilton Heights Schools.

Gwen graduated in 1983 from Hamilton Heights and continues to believe Heights is a great community in which to raise her children.

Mike House
Board Member

Mike House has represented White River Township on the Hamilton Heights School Board for the last nine years. He and his wife Teresa have been married for 23 years and have two children, Emma and Grant. Mike is a farmer and a member of the Cicero Christian Church.

Mike states that "it is rewarding to have so many outstanding people to work with at Hamilton Heights."
